THE TEAM NEWS
WIGAN WARRIORS
Head Coach: Adrian Lam
Squad: Burgess, Clubb, Farrell, Gildart, Greenwood, Hankinson, Hardaker, Havard, Isa, Marshall, Navarrete, Partington, Powell, Sammut, Sarginson, Ja. Shorrocks, Smithies, Wells, Williams
Unavailable: Gabe Hamlin, Dom Manfredi, Tom Davies, Ben Flower, Sean O’Loughlin, Joe Greenwood, Tommy Leuluai, Joe Bullock
- Wigan's five-match winning streak was brought to an abrupt halt as they were comfortably beaten by local rivals St. Helens.
- The Warriors look set to be without Joe Bullock for an extended period due to a knee injury whilst Joe Burgess also has a knock but has a chance of featuring this week after he was selected in the 19-man squad.
- Burgess is joined in the squad by Jack Wells and academy prospect Ethan Havard who will make his debut if selected but Tommy Leuluai has also joined Wigan’s injury list with a lower back problem.
WAKEFIELD TRINITY
Head Coach: Chris Chester
Squad: Annakin, Arundel, Batchelor, Brough, Caton-Brown, Crowther, England, Hampshire, Hirst, Jones-Bishop, Jowitt, King, Lyne, Miller, Pauli, Randell, Tanginoa, Tupou, Wood
Unavailable: Tom Johnstone, Tinirau Arona, Matty Ashurst, Danny Kirmond, David Fifita, Craig Kopczak
- Wakefield have now won just one of their last eight Super League matches as they lost to local rivals Castleford last weekend which was another blow in their pursuit of getting back in to play-off contention.
- Trinity have received a huge blow with the news that prop David Fifita is set to be out for up to four weeks with the foot injury that he cannot shake off and he is joined on the sidelines by fellow prop Craig Kopczak.
- He has been replaced in Chris Chester’s 19-man squad by Chris Annakin who could make a rare appearance whilst Tyler Randell should be fit enough to appear this week after he was a late withdrawal against Castleford.
THE PREDICTION
Wigan's winning streak came to an end against St. Helens but they can bounce straight back as they host Wakefield. Trinity continue to leak points at an alarming rate with their defence conceding an average of 32.8 points per game in the last five weeks and Wigan should take advantage of that. Wigan came up against a brilliant side last week but will feel confident of getting back to winning ways despite having to field what will be a young side.
