THE TEAM NEWS
WAKEFIELD TRINITY
Head Coach: Chris Chester
Squad: Ashurst, Batchelor, Brough, Croft, Crowther, England, Fifita, Hampshire, Hirst, Jones-Bishop, Kershaw, King, Kopczak, Lyne, Miller, Randell, Sa’u, Tanginoa, Wood
Unavailable: Craig Huby, Tom Johnstone, Joe Arundel, Tinirau Arona, Max Jowitt, Danny Kirmond, Mason Caton-Brown
- Wakefield suffered a big loss in the Challenge Cup as they were knocked out by St. Helens and have now lost three consecutive games with a home game against Leeds the perfect chance for Trinity to put their struggles behind them.
- They always lift when Leeds are in town and this should be no different having already defeated the Rhinos twice this season and furthermore, in a big boost for Trinity, David Fifita is back in the squad this week.
- Danny Brough made a return to the Trinity team last week but did not look comfortable defending, with his hand injury still troubling him so Leeds may look to get at him. Junior Sa’u may offer him more support lining up at centre having been cup-tied last week, with Danny Kirmond and Mason Caton-Brown dropping out through injuries.
LEEDS RHINOS
Head Coach: Richard Agar
Squad: T. Briscoe, Cuthbertson, Donaldson, Dwyer, Ferres, Golding, Handley, Hurrell, Lolohea, Merrin, Myler, Newman, Oledzki, Seumanufagai, Singleton, Smith, L. Sutcliffe, Walker, Watkins
Unavailable: Dom Crosby, Stevie Ward, Carl Ablett, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Nathaniel Peteru, Matt Parcell
- Leeds did not have a game last week following their Challenge Cup exit against Bradford but come into this on the back of a win over London, although the Rhinos still have plenty of improving to do to pull away from relegation trouble.
- Richard Agar has some decisions to make with his team selection as he looks set to welcome back Konrad Hurrell, Tui Lolohea and Brett Ferres whilst Ashton Golding is also in the 19-man squad.
- Nathaniel Peteru is out after suffering a fractured eye socket whilst Matt Parcell will sit out the first of two games through suspension and youngsters Alex Sutcliffe and Callum McLelland also make way.
THE PREDICTION
Wakefield looked weak through the middle of the field without David Fifita but his return would be huge here and he has a chance of playing. After three losses in all competitions, they host a Leeds side which always brings the best out of them but it looks a difficult game to call. The Rhinos earned a rare win last time out against fellow strugglers London and will look to improve on the back of that. However, Wakefield have beaten them twice this season and despite their injury issues, Trinity could grind out a narrow win.
