THE TEAM NEWS
HULL FC
Head Coach: Lee Radford
Squad: Bowden, Connor, Faraimo, Fash, Green, Griffin, Hadley, Houghton, Kelly, Litten, Manu, Minichiello, Naulago, Paea, Savelio, Shaul, Sneyd, Washbrook, Westerman
Unavailable: Matty Dawson-Jones, Jordan Lane, Carlos Tuimavave, Gareth Ellis, Jack Logan, Scott Taylor
- Hull FC have been compared to Jekyll and Hyde this season and that was evident after their thrashing of Catalans in the Cup last week followed a hammering of their own against Huddersfield in the previous week.
- Hull will have to wait at least another week for the likes of Carlos Tuimavave and Gareth Ellis to return from injury whilst Scott Taylor is set to be out for around a month with a calf injury.
- Taylor didn’t feature in his side’s Cup win last week and was replaced in the side by Joe Westerman with the latter coming back into the 19-man squad in the only change.
SALFORD RED DEVILS
Head Coach: Ian Watson
Squad: Bibby, Burke, Dudson, Evalds, Griffin, Hastings, Inu, Johnson, Jones, Lussick, Lui, McCarthy, Mossop, Murray, Pauli, Sio, Tomkins, Walker, Welham
Unavailable: Ed Chamberlain, Mark Flanagan
- Salford have lost their last three matches in all competitions but will be desperate to return to winning ways following their week off with this shaping as an important fixture for the Red Devils’ top 5 prospects.
- Head coach Ian Watson has options available to him and may look to change his side following their disappointing showing against Hull KR but he has only made one change to his 19-man squad.
- Greg Johnson returns to the fold and could make his first appearance of the season with the winger expected to start in place of Derrell Olpherts who has been dropped from the squad after his horror show against Rovers.
THE PREDICTION
Hull FC are extremely difficult to predict this year with nobody knowing which side is going to turn up from one week to the next. They host an out-of-sorts Salford side who will view this as a must-win but if the Airlie Birds perform anywhere near as well as they did last week, they should win. Despite still missing several of their first-choice players, Hull have managed to keep themselves in the top 5 and will be looking to cement that spot against one of their rivals here. Salford will need to find some greater consistency to their performances but are likely to fall short again.
