- Hampshire got their title defence off to the perfect start as they coasted to victory against last season’s runners-up in the Kent Spitfires, so that has given them even more confidence that they can do well once again.
- The same 13-man squad has been named for this match and there is a chance that they may make a rotation with Gareth Berg potentially coming in but there is little need to change a winning formula otherwise.
- Sam Northeast hit an unbeaten century against his form club on Wednesday and the new signing has already made an impact which suggests he could be a key player for them this term and they do look strong throughout the side.
GLAMORGAN

- Glamorgan face the defending champions off the back of a heavy 180-run loss at the hands of Essex on Wednesday and that does not bode well when facing Hampshire who looked in superb form themselves.
- They undoubtedly miss star batsmen Colin Ingram as he is away attending the birth of his child as well as playing in the Indian Premier League but they will hope that their batsmen can offer more resistance against Hampshire than they did against Essex who bowled them out for just 146.
- They will have to improve with both bat and ball if they are to have any chance of competing with Hampshire here and they need more from overseas star Marnus Labuschagne who disappointed in both disciplines on Wednesday.
THE PREDICTION
Hampshire picked up on Wednesday from where they left off last season and they dominated against Kent. In contrast, Glamorgan were hammered by Essex and they could be in for a difficult tournament if they do not improve quickly. They lack quality with the ball and their batting did not inspire confidence, and all the signs coming into this match suggest it could be another heavy defeat for them at the Ageas Bowl.
