THE TEAM NEWS
ST. GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS
Head Coach: Paul McGregor
Starting 13: Lomax, Pereira, Aitken, Lafai, Pearson, Field, Hunt, Graham, McInnes, Vaughan, Frizell, T. Sims, Lawrie – Interchanges: Leilua, Host, Robson, K. Sims – Reserves: Kerr, Dufty
Unavailable: Jack de Belin, Gareth Widdop, Corey Norman
- St. George's recent run of poor form hit a new low as they suffered a humiliating loss against Newcastle as the Dragons conceded 45 points and will need a huge improvement as they host Cronulla.
- Five-eighth Corey Norman had an outside chance of returning in this fixture but has failed to appear in the squad and looks to be at least another week away whilst Korbin Sims is back on the bench for St. George.
- Head coach Paul McGregor has pointed the finger at his backline and made a couple of changes as a result with Matt Dufty and Mikaela Ravalawa dropped and that sees Zac Lomax revert to fullback from centre with Euan Aitken taking his place and Jonus Pearson will make his club debut on the wing.
CRONULLA-SUTHERLAND SHARKS
Head Coach: John Morris
Starting 13: Dugan, Feki, Xerri, Morris, Gray, Flanagan, Townsend, Fifita, J. Brailey, Prior, Nikora, Capewell, Gallen – Interchanges: B. Brailey, Bukuya, Williams, Hamlin-Uele – Reserves: Sorensen, Moylan
Unavailable: Wade Graham, Aaron Woods, Shaun Johnson
- Cronulla were second best against Manly and paid the price for a poor completion rate as they went down 14-24 at PointsBet Stadium but face a St. George side that are struggling at the moment which presents a great chance to bounce back.
- Fullback Matt Moylan returned to training last week and is back in contention for Cronulla here and despite him only being named amongst the reserves at the minute, he is expected to be a late inclusion which should be the only change to last week’s side.
- Shaun Johnson is still at least another week away so he will miss out with Cronulla head coach John Morris also hopeful of having Wade Graham available shortly as he nears a return from an ACL injury.
THE PREDICTION
St. George desperately need Corey Norman back in their side with the Dragons losing their last four matches. They face a Cronulla side who have suffered with injuries all year but could have Matt Moylan back here which will make a big difference to their attacking options. The Dragons were desperately poor last week and will need a big response to lift them after that shocking effort but the Sharks also need to respond after their loss and it’s the away side that look the most likely to bounce back with the win.
