THE TEAM NEWS
PENRITH PANTHERS
Head Coach: Ivan Cleary
Starting 13: Edwards, Mansour, Yeo, Naden, To’o, Luai, Maloney, Tamou, Egan, Campbell-Gillard, Kikau, Winterstein, Fisher-Harris – Interchanges: Katoa, Martin, Leota, Sele – Reserves: Kenny, Cleary
Unavailable: Tyrone May, Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, Dean Whare, Waqa Blake
- Penrith made it back-to-back wins as they defeated Manly last week but face a much tougher task as they host Sydney Roosters with the Panthers needing to put in a big performance to make it three wins in a row.
- Viliame Kikau was a late withdrawal last week but will return to start in the second row this week whilst Wayde Egan is also back to start at hooker which sees Mitch Kenny drop out of the 17.
- Nathan Cleary is still listed as a reserve but is expected to play having appeared for New South Wales in Origin and he is likely to partner James Maloney in the halves with Jarome Luai the one to make way.
SYDNEY ROOSTERS
Head Coach: Trent Robinson
Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Aubusson, Manu, Ikuvalu, Hutchison, Cronk, Tetevano, Radley, Taukeiaho, Cordner, Butcher, Liu – Interchanges: Tupouniua, Faamausili, Collins, Verrills Reserves: Hall, Curran
Unavailable: Billy Smith, Brett Morris, Jake Friend, Lachlan Lam, Luke Keary, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Latrell Mitchell, Angus Crichton
- Sydney Roosters will hope the bye week has allowed them to regroup following consecutive losses to Brisbane and Newcastle but they come into this game with a severely weakened side.
- The Roosters were set to field all of their Origin players but Latrell Mitchell and Angus Crichton have been left out with the loss of Mitchell a big blow due to Luke Keary also missing out through concussion.
- Drew Hutchison will make his Roosters debut in the halves in one of several changes for the Roosters with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves also missing through suspension so Poasa Faamausili, Lindsay Collins and Sam Verrills all come onto the bench.
THE PREDICTION
Penrith have improved in their last two games but still look some way off where they need to be. They now host an out-of-sorts Sydney Roosters team who have lost their last two but will be desperate to get back on track here and should be able to bounce back despite missing numerous players. The Roosters will have to perform well to ensure they do get back to winning ways with the Panthers capable of causing another shock but the bye week should have served them well and allowed them to regroup to earn the win.
