THE TEAM NEWS

MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES

Head Coach: Des Hasler

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Taufua, Walker, Suli, Garrick, Cust, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Koroisau, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Fainu, Gosiewski, Boyle, Paseka – Reserves: Elliot, Elgey

Unavailable: Albert Hopoate, Toafofoa Sipley, Lachlan Croker, Brad Parker

  • Manly were far from their best but edged North Queensland to ensure they snapped their losing streak at just two matches and now return to home soil to face St. George in a crucial game as the Sea Eagles look to cement their place in the top 8.

  • The Sea Eagles have named the same 17 that defeated the Cowboys last week which means Tom Trbojevic came through unscathed on his return and he will again line-up at fullback as he aims to force his way into the New South Wales side for Origin II.

  • Manly’s second-phase play was impressive last week and was a factor in grinding down the Cowboys as they spent just over three minutes in possession over their opponents, despite the Cowboys enjoying more sets.

ST. GEORGE-ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

Head Coach: Paul McGregor

Starting 13: Dufty, Pearson, Aitken, Maranta, Ravalawa, Norman, Hunt, Lawrie, McInnes, Vaughan, Host, T. Sims, Frizell – Interchanges: Latimore, Robson, K. Sims, Field – Reserves: Leilua, Pereira

Unavailable: Jack de Belin, Gareth Widdop, James Graham, Tim Lafai, Zac Lomax

  • St. George were impressive as they ended their five-match losing sequence with a confident display which led to victory over Canterbury and they will now head to Manly as they bid for back-to-back wins.

  • Tyson Frizell is named at lock with Jacob Host lining up in the second row in what was set to be the only change to the Dragons' line-up from last week but they have suffered a blow with an injury blow during the week.

  • Centre Zac Lomax has suffered a broken thumb and will miss at least a month of action as a result so his place in the side will be taken by Lachlan Maranta with the Dragons now missing three of their first choice backs.

THE PREDICTION

Manly should improve on the back of last week's gutsy win over North Queensland and will have to do so if they are to make it successive wins as they host St. George. The Dragons looked a lot better with their first-choice halves pairing back together and they too will feel they can earn the win. Both teams are evenly matched which should make this a close contest but with St. George performing so well last week, they can be the side to make it consecutive victories.
