THE TEAM NEWS
MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES
Head Coach: Des Hasler
Starting 13: Elliot, Taufua, Suli, Parker, Garrick, Koroisau, Elgey, Sipley, Fainu, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Gosiewski, Tanginoa, Waddell, Boyle – Reserves: Miski, Cust, Dockar-Clay, Paseka
Unavailable: Albert Hopoate, Dylan Walker, Tom Trbojevic, Daly Cherry-Evans, Addin Fonua-Blake, Lachlan Croker
- Manly overcame the loss of key personnel to claim an important win over Canterbury with Reuben Garrick scoring all 18 points but the victory came at a cost with yet more injury woes for the Sea Eagles.
- Manly are facing a real problem in the halves with Lachlan Croker picking up a hamstring injury which sees Apisai Koroisau switch to the unfamiliar position of five-eighth with Manase Fainu coming into the side as the starting hooker.
- Addin Fonua-Blake is also out with a knock picked up last week so Toafofoa Sipley comes in at prop with Morgan Boyle and Kelepi Tanginoa earning spots on the bench but in better news for the Sea Eagles, Jorge Taufua is fit enough to return on the wing in place of Abbas Miski.
BRISBANE BRONCOS
Head Coach: Anthony Seibold
Starting 13: Boyd, Oates, Staggs, Bird, Shibasaki, Milford, Dearden, Lodge, Turpin, Haas, Glenn, Gillett, Flegler – Interchanges: Carrigan, Fifita, Pangai Jnr., Ofahengaue – Reserves: Isaako, Paix, Su’a, O’Sullivan
Unavailable: Andrew McCullough
- Brisbane were on the end of a big loss as South Sydney Rabbitohs brushed them aside in their highly anticipated contest last week with the Broncos sitting on a 2-6 record after their disastrous start to the year.
- Head coach Anthony Seibold has decided to wield the axe with James Roberts and Jamayne Isaako dropped after a string of poor performances with Kotoni Staggs and Gehamat Shibasaki coming into the side.
- Thomas Flegler will start at lock in place of Tevita Pangai Jnr. who will come off the bench whilst an enforced change has also been made with hooker Andrew McCullough suffering an MCL injury in training this week so Jake Turpin will come into the side.
THE PREDICTION
Brisbane's season continues to go further awry and they suffered another big loss last week. Head coach Anthony Seibold has seemingly lost patience with some high-profile underperformers and will make several changes this week but with Manly having injury troubles, they could win here. The Broncos are the only side to benefit from home advantage this week as the Suncorp Stadium hosts the Magic Round and with Manly having to field a makeshift side, Brisbane can show a reaction to the fear of being dropped and earn a much-needed win.
