Anhelina Kalinina vs Nao Hibino prediction

Anhelina Kalinina suffered a shock loss to Caty McNally in the first round of the Charleston Open, losing 4-6 6-1 6-4. She’s playing poorly and is currently on a four-match losing streak. She needs to find a run of form from somewhere and she’ll hope it will be this week. 

Kalinina can take some encouragement from the fact that she made the semi-finals of the event last year, losing a close three-set match with Magda Linette in the last four. 

Nao Hibino is her opponent in the first round. She managed to get through qualifying with wins over Yasmin Mansouri and Tina Nadine Smith and will hope to put some pressure on an out-of-form Kalinina early on.

Hibino does lead the head-to-head 1-0, but that match took place nearly a decade ago, when Kalinina was still a teenager. We think the higher-ranked Ukrainian will stop the rot and advance through to the next round.
