Andrey Rublev vs Zhizhen Zhang Prediction
After a hugely disappointing Australian Open in which be bowed out in straight sets in the first round to Joao Fonseca, Andrey Rublev restored a little confidence by reaching the semi-finals at the Open Occitanie, although he still will have felt he under-performed in that tournament given that he was the top seed.
A former champion at the Rotterdam Open having gone all the way in 2021, Rublev will be drawing upon some positive memories as he aims to move on from his recent struggles.
It’s been an even longer barren spell for Zhizhen Zhang though, who hasn’t won a Singles match on the ATP Tour since his run to the final of the Hangzhou Open in September last year – a run of seven straight first-round exits. The 28-year-old was at least competitive at the Australian Open though, losing in five sets to 13th seed Holger Rune.
Rublev has won all three meetings between the pair, all on hard courts, including two contests last year. A similar outcome is to be expected here, but given the fact that Rublev is still some way off his best form, it is best to approach this one with caution.
Andrey Rublev vs Zhizhen Zhang Tip: Andrey Rublev to win 2-1
