Andrey Rublev vs Nuno Borges Prediction

Fifth seed Andrey Rublev looked good in the first round as he eased past Alexander Bublik 6-3 6-4. The Russian was decent on first and second serve while his return game was strong in what was an all-round solid performance.

He now meets Nuno Borges who overcame lucky loser Otto Virtanen on Tuesday 7-6 6-3. The Portuguese number one arguably made that match harder than it should have been and a 36% win percentage on his second serve was a fairly big reason for that. He will simply have to improve that to have any chance against Rublev.

The pair have met once before and that came in Basel last year where Rublev won 6-3 6-2. We have to like Rublev’s chance of a similar kind of outcome here unless Borges significantly improves on Tuesday’s display. It may not be straight sets but Rublev should get the win.
