THE TEAM NEWS
PITTSBURGH STEELERS
- Pittsburgh lost for the first time in five matches as they were defeated on Thursday Night Football by a valiant effort by Cleveland but their big challenge will be responding to the fracas that marred last week’s game.
- With just eight seconds remaining, Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph was driven to the turf by Myles Garrett and a fight ensued which saw Rudolph’s helmet removed and used as a weapon against him with center Maurkice Pouncey receiving a three-game ban for his role in the incident.
- The Steelers could be without running back James Conner once again as he exited last week's contest after re-injuring his shoulder and he could be joined on the sidelines by wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and linebacker Olasunkanmi Adeniyi who all suffered head knocks in that loss.
CINCINNATI BENGALS
- Cincinnati showed some improved signs but they were still not good enough as they fell to 0-10 in their loss to Oakland and the Bengals are running out of matches to end their winless run this season.
- Quarterback Ryan Finley struggled once again under center and although he has a lack of genuine weapons to work with, the rookie has to be better having completed just 13 of 31 passing attempts for 115 yards against the Raiders.
- The Bengals could have further issues at wide receiver after Auden Tate was carted off the field with a neck problem following a nasty clash last week but it is a concussion that is likely to see him sit this game out.
THE PREDICTION
Pittsburgh will need to quickly regroup to get themselves back into play-off contention after a disappointing display against Cleveland as well as what followed at the end of that game. They have lost center Maurkice Pouncey for three games after those unsavoury scenes and although he will be a big loss, they should still have too much for the struggling Bengals. The Steelers will need to improve on last week’s showing but this is the perfect game for them to respond.
