Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Elise Mertens prediction

Elise Mertens will be keen to kick-start her 2025 in Stuttgart. 

The Belgian opened the year with a runner-up spot in Hobart and a title in Singapore but has not found her best form of late. 

An early loss in Charleston made it a so-so opening to her clay swing and Sasnovich has caused her problems in the past.  The Belarusian made the last four at Cluj-Napoca and is eyeing a place back inside the top 100. 

This will be their seventh meeting with the head-to-head split at 3-3. Their only clash on clay went the way of Sasnovich when she upset the seeded Mertens as a qualifier in Palermo five years ago, but it’d take a brave person to back a similar 6-4 6-1 scoreline in the underdog’s favour this time.
