Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Ann Li prediction

Aliaksandra Sasnvoich began her clay court season by getting through both the qualifying rounds in Stuttgart but then losing to Elise Mertens in straight sets. She has managed the same here, beating Mirjam Bjorklund and Tyra Caterina Grant to enter the main draw. Her best finish so far this season is reaching the semi-finals of the Winners Open as a qualifier, winning five matches in total before losing to Anastasia Potapova in straight sets.

Ann Li will be her opponent in the first-round here. Li played at Charleston, winning in the first-round with a straight-forward win over Anna Blinkova but then coming up short against Ekaterina Alexandrova. The American made a brilliant run to the final of the Singapore Open in early February but has struggled to make much of an impact elsewhere. 

These two have played each other just once before but never on clay. Sasnovich beat Li in the semi-final of the Melbourne Summer Set 2, which was a WTA 250 event. We think this will be close, as the lower-ranked Sasnovich has more clay court tennis under her belt so far this campaign.
