Alexei Popyrin vs Corentin Moutet Prediction

2024 was quite a year for Alexei Popyrin, who broke into the top 25 in the ATP rankings for the first time in his career. The Australian notably won the 1000-rated Canada Masters in August, defeating Andrey Rublev in the final, and also achieved his best Grand Slam run in the US Open later that month when he defeated Novak Djokovic on his way to the last 16.

The 25-year-old, who has reached third round of his own nation's Grand Slam on three separate occasions, most recently participated in the Brisbane International but lost in the first round to up-and-coming talent Mattei Arnaldi.

Corentin Moutet, meanwhile, is a highly unpredictable player who has had to battle with some fairly serious injury issues in his career, despite still being only 25. The entertaining Frenchman was even forced to change from a two-handed backhand to a one-hander as a result of a wrist issue in 2023, but is now able to utilise both styles depending on the situation.

Moutet hasn’t been in action since November though, and is unlikely to be match-sharp enough to trouble Popyrin, who could potentially delight his home crowd with a straight-sets victory.
