Alexei Popyrin vs Casper Ruud prediction

Alexei Popyrin earned successive wins in 2025 for the first time this season after defeating Frances Tiafoe 3-6 6-3 6-3. The Australian outlasted the 14th seed to make it through to the third round, where he will face Casper Ruud.

Ruud breezed past Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2 6-1 in his second-round match, not even facing a break point while also winning 86% of points on his first serve. The Norwegian looked at ease in his first clay court appearance of the season and must be confident of another strong showing at this event and perhaps going one better, having made the final last year.

Popyrin deserves credit for his win over Tiafoe, though the American was exhausted after a quick turnover from his run to the final in Houston last week, and there are still errors in his game which the number four seed should exploit to his advantage. Ruud possesses the qualities and credentials for a deep run in Monte-Carlo and should easily make it through against Popyrin.
