Alexandre Muller vs Jakub Mensik Prediction

France’s Alexandre Muller enjoyed a fantastic week in Hong Kong last week as he produced some fantastic displays to win the tournament. He beat talented compatriot Arthur Fils in the quarter-finals and went on to beat veteran Kei Nishikori in the final to win his first ATP Tour title.

He now makes his way to Auckland and it will be interesting to see if there is any emotional comedown which happens so often to players after a win and the energy that goes into it.

He has an incredibly tough first-round opponent to contend with too as he has been drawn to face Czech talent Jakub Mensik here. The 19-year-old played in Brisbane last week and won a couple of matches before coming unstuck against the fearsome Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. He will not overly be fazed by that and will come into this match raring to go.

The pair have met once before in qualifying for the ATP 500 event in Vienna last October. Mensik coasted to a 6-3 6-2 victory in that match and he will be super confident of doing the same here. Despite Muller’s win last week, we like Mensik in this one to get the victory and progress.
