Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor Prediction
Alexander Zverev comes into Indian Wells after a couple of clay-court tournaments in South America and it will be interesting to see how that impacts him as he switches back to hard courts.
Zverev will have been hoping to build some momentum on clay and he is clearly identifying the French Open as his best chance of a Grand Slam this year. That may have backfired potentially as he was upset in both tournaments he played so it will be interesting to see his frame of mind in California this week.
He takes on Tallon Griekspoor and that is as challenging an open match as he could have wished for. The Dutchman is as determined and as gritty as they come and showed that in the first round. After losing the first set to Miomir Kecmanovic on a tie-break, he bounced back to win 6-7 6-4 6-3.
That comes a week after a remarkable run in Dubai where he beat Daniil Medvedev and Ugo Humbert before losing in the semis to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Griekspoor may be just the player to really push Zverev here especially if the top seed makes a slow start to this match.
Zverev has dominated his recent meetings with Griekspoor however winning their last five meetings including four of those that were last year. That does not bode well for Griekspoor who may also be a fraction jaded after his long run last week while Zverev should be fresh. The German should get a win under his belt here.
