Alexander Zverev vs Alexander Shevchenko Prediction
Alexander Zverev is clearly determined to get some momentum going on clay at this early stage of 2025. He is the top seed in Rio this week, and after playing in Buenos Aires last week, he's clearly targeting the French Open as a big opportunity to win a Grand Slam this year.
He suffered a shock defeat in the Argentina Open last week at the hands of Francisco Cerundolo Which will likely make him even more motivated to do well this week in Brazil.
He won his opening match in the first round against China's Yunchaokete Bu 7-6 6-4 and it was not straightforward for the big German.
It could however serve him well before this tournament and now he comes up against Alexander Shevchenko in the round of 16. The Kazakh 24-year-old eased to victory over Brazilian Felipe Meligeni Alves on Monday 6-4 6-2 and that will give him plenty of confidence coming into this match.
It is simply a huge task however to expect Shevchenko to cause Zverev too many problems in this match. The top seed should canter to victory but his game is not quite flowing yet on clay. We do however expect Zverev to win and make it through to the quarters.
