Alex de Minaur vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry Prediction

After an injury-disrupted 2024, Alex de Minaur returns to action in his native Australia and he will be keen to kick the new year off in style. De Minaur did well in this competition last year after a slow start where he lost his opening match against Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie. He helped Australia reach the semi-finals before they lost to eventual winners Germany but he will take heart from those performances as he looks to do well once again.

He meets the talented Tomas Martin Etcheverry who beat him in their only previous meeting. That came at the French Open in 2023 where the Argentine won in straight sets but it will be a different proposition on the Australian hard courts.

That being said, Etcheverry is more than capable on hard surfaces but De Minaur is a different level. Assuming he is in good shape which will surely be the case after a valuable rest, De Minaur has to be favoured to get the win and potentially seal the tie here.
