Alex de Minaur vs Matteo Berrettini Prediction

Alex de Minaur’s 2025 began in strong fashion when he reached the last eight at the Australian Open for the first time, losing to champion Jannik Sinner, while he was also eliminated by the eventual winner in the next two tournaments (Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Rotterdam Open and Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals of the Qatar Open).

The Australian lost to in-form Francisco Cerundolo in the last 16 of the Indian Wells Open recently, while his Miami run to-date has seen him defeat Yunchaokete Bu and Joao Fonseca.

Matteo Berrettini enjoyed a couple of quarter-final appearances in the run-up to the Sunshine Double, and will now aim to make the last eight of an ATP 1000 event for the first time since reaching the final of the Madrid Open in 2021.

The Italian followed up his three-set victory over Hugo Gaston with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Zizou Bergs.

Although Berretini has won two of the three meetings between the two on the ATP Tour, both those wins came on his favoured surface of grass. De Minaur was victorious on their only tour-level clash on hard courts, and he is our pick here in what is likely to be a competitive clash.
