Alejandro Tabilo vs Grigor Dimitrov prediction

Alejandro Tabilo was once again the scourge of Novak Djokovic as he downed the two-time champion in straight sets to grab the headlines in Monte Carlo. 

The Chilean shocked the former world number one on the clay of Rome last year and was at it again here as an out-of-sorts Djoker was comfortably beaten 6-3 6-4.

Tabilo won 81% of points on his first serve and converted three of his eight break point chances. Djokovic leaked an uncharacteristic 29 unforced errors and was once again second-best to a leftie on clay. 

Tabilo’s reward is a meeting with another veteran in the shape of Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian surprisingly lost the opening set against Monegasque qualifier Valentin Vacherot but stormed back to triumph 4-6 6-3 6-1.

Tabilo’s crosscourt forehand could well trouble Dimitrov’s one-handed backhand on the dirt, giving him a shot at a first win over the 33-year-old, who came out on top at the Laver Cup and in Miami last year.

Four of the five sets they have played have gone to a tie-break and this contest may well be tight and go the distance.
