Alaves Preview: Trying to push

Deportivo Alaves have managed just five victories in their 22 matches so far this season as they languish in the bottom three ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures. Even despite a change in management in December, they have continued to struggle this season.

The Basque side replaced Luis Garcia Plaza and appointed former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet but the hosts’ 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in Catalonia last weekend means they have managed just one victory in their last 11 matches across all competitions.

Getafe Preview: Defensive Getafe

Coached by Jose Bordalas, in his second stint in charge of Getafe, the capital city based club have been as defensive and as aggressive as ever with 17 goals scored in their 22 matches in La Liga as they hover above the bottom three and the relegation places.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a 5-0 hammering at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey in midweek. However, their goalless draw with Sevilla at the Coliseum last weekend means they are now unbeaten in four La Liga matches.

Alaves Team News: A few issues

Alaves have a couple of key doubts for this weekend as former Sevilla defensive midfielder Joan Jordan remains a potential absentee alongside Tomas Conechny, whilst goalkeeper Antonio Sivera is sidelined due to a hand injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Jesus Owono; Tenaglia, Santiago Mourino, Diarra, Manu Sanchez; Antonio Blanco, Ander Guevara; Carlos Vicente, Jon Guridi, Asier Villalibre; Kike

Unavailable: Antonio Sivera (Injured)

Questionable: Joan Jordan (Injured), Conechny (Injured)

Getafe Team News: Couple of doubts

Former West Bromwich Albion and Watford defender Allan Nyom is an injury doubt for Getafe this weekend and he is a potential absentee for Jose Bordalas’ tight and small squad alongside experienced attacker Luis Milla.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): David Soria; Jorge Iglesias, Domingos Duarte, Jon Berrocal, Diego Rico; Carles Perez, Djene, Mauro Arambarri, Carlos da Costa; Juanmi, Uche

Unavailable:

Questionable: Nyom (Injured), Luis Milla (Injured)

Alaves vs Getafe Prediction

As mentioned, Alaves have switched managers with the appointment of Eduardo Coudet intended to get the hosts playing a more adventurous style of football, despite the relative success that they had enjoyed with the pragmatism of Luis Garcia Plaza. They now face a Getafe side that are almost overly defensive with very little intent to attack. Alaves have struggled to adapt to their supposedly more attacking style so a low-scoring affair is to be expected up north.

Alaves vs Getafe Tip: Under 2.5 goals
