Ajla Tomljanovic vs Peyton Stearns prediction

Ajla Tomlajnovic overcame a slow start to win her first round match against lucky loser Kyoka Okamura 3-6 6-1 6-2. She now faces American Peyton Stearns for a place in the last 16 of the competition.

Stearns has not had the best of seasons as of yet, with a third round loss at the Dubai Tennis Championships to Mirra Andreeva her best finish of the season so far. However, she did get past Ons Jabeur and world number eight Zheng Qinwen, which was her first victory against a player ranked in the top ten. She did show her quality on clay last season, with victory at the Rabat Grand Prix in May, beating Mayar Sherif in the final with ease.

Stearns also made another final of a WTA 250 event the previous year and though these two have never played each other before and there is little history to fall back on, we think Stearns will have enough for victory over the Australian.
