AIEMANN ZAHABI: QUEBEC NATIVE ON FOUR-FIGHT WIN STREAK
Aiemann Zahabi (11-2) is enjoying a fine run of form in the UFC as he has won his last four fights. He comes off a unanimous decision win over Javid Basharat in March and he will be eager to extend his streak to five as he fights on home soil once again. Two of his last four wins and come via the scorecards and two by knockout as his confidence is flying coming into this UFC Fight Night 246 clash with Pedro Munhoz.
PEDRO MUNHOZ: UFC VET DESPERATE TO IMPROVE ON JUST TWO WINS IN LAST NINE
Pedro Munhoz (20-9 with two no contests) is desperate for a victory in the Octagon having only managed two wins in his last nine bouts. He has fought some high-calibre opponents in that time such as Aljamain Sterling, Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo, Dominick Cruz and Marlon Vera, but he only has wins over Jimmie Rivera and Chris Gutierrez since the summer of 2019. The Brazilian 38-year-old will see this as an opponent to rebound and stay relevant in the division.
AIEMANN ZAHABI VS PEDRO MUNHOZ PREDICTION
This is an interesting match-up between a fighter on the rise in the UFC and a veteran who has fought a who’s who in the bantamweight division but with little success. Zahabi will be the one full of confidence while Munhoz may be lacking that bit of belief given his lack of wins in recent years but it is Munhoz who has been operating at an elite level for a large part of his career.
This will be a really good test to see if Zahabi has what it takes to push into the top echelon of the bantamweight division. He has clearly improved as a fighter but it will be interesting to see just how far he has come.
So much depends on how much hunger Munhoz has left in the tank. The fact he is not being stopped and continues to prove durable is a positive sign and we have a feeling Munhoz can master the younger man here. There is good value on Munhoz as the underdog here and he is our pick.
PREDICTION: PEDRO MUNHOZ TO WIN
