Essendon and Hawthorn both failed to fire in 2020 as the pair missed out on the finals in very disappointing fashion. They managed to win just 11 games between them as they fell well short of the top eight and there will need to be major improvements to challenge this time around. The pair ended the season in wretched form with them each winning just one of their last eight matches leaving this contest difficult to decipher.
