THE TEAM NEWS

WESTERN BULLDOGS

  • Western Bulldogs enter Round 3 as one of just four teams in the AFL without a win to their name after they suffered a second heavy loss of the campaign with St. Kilda proving too good for them.
  • Despite the extended break allowing them time to try and fix some issues from their Round 1 loss to Collingwood, it was a similar story as the Bulldogs struggled to score points while they were again lacking without the ball.
  • In an attempt to arrest their poor start to the campaign, the Bulldogs have handed recalls to Tom Liberatore, Toby McLean and Zaine Cordy with Ryan Gardner, Billy Gowers and Patrick Lipinski all making way.

GWS GIANTS

  • GWS Giants suffered a shock loss against North Melbourne last week as last season’s beaten Grand Finalists were unable to build on their impressive opening to the year having beaten Geelong Cats.
  • The Giants were big favourites heading into the home clash with the Kangaroos but despite the two teams going into the half with the scores level, a poor second half saw the Giants fall to defeat.
  • The Giants have made two changes for this clash with Toby Greene ruled out with a knee injury while Isaac Cumming is dropped with last year’s #4 pick Lachie Ash coming in for his AFL debut while Zac Langdon is also selected.

THE PREDICTION

It has been a poor start to 2020 for Western Bulldogs and they now face another tough test as they host GWS Giants. The Giants were on the end of a shock loss themselves last week and will be focused on bouncing back while the Bulldogs are 0-2 after two poor showings. This was a tasty affair in last season’s elimination final and both teams will have that in mind as they attempt to earn the four points here but it is the Giants looked better equipped to come out on top to make it five wins from six against the Bulldogs.
