THE TEAM NEWS
WEST COAST EAGLES
- West Coast Eagles continued their fine run of form as they produced arguably their best performance of the season to claim a huge victory over Collingwood last week which made it four wins in a row.
- The Eagles trailed at the end of the first quarter but they turned that around in spectacular fashion as they restricted the Magpies to just 19 points in the final three quarters, scoring 99 for themselves in the process to seal the 111-45 success.
- That comprehensive display will give the Eagles huge confidence ahead of another tough clash but they will hand a debut to Harry Edwards here while Brendon Ah Chee also comes in with Jack Redden out injured while Josh Rotham is dropped.
GEELONG CATS
- Geelong Cats put their loss to Collingwood behind them as they made an immediate return to winning ways by defeating Fremantle last week in what was a superb defensive display.
- The Cats were still not at their fluent best as they managed just 48 points but that was more than enough to overcome the Dockers with Geelong restricting them to just 16, seven of which came in the final quarter when the game was already over as a contest.
- The Cats are now 5-3 for the year but will be eager to find some consistency in their performances and this will be a big test for them against an in-form West Coast Eagles outfit with an unchanged line-up named for this contest.
THE PREDICTION
West Coast Eagles and Geelong Cats are both capable of challenging for the Premiership come the end of the season and the pair have demonstrated their ability in their recent outings. The Eagles were sensational in their victory over Collingwood last week to make it four wins in a row while the Cats returning to winning ways to make it four wins from five as they stifled Fremantle. Either side can come out on top in this affair but having won so impressively last week, it is the Eagles that can improve on their run of form to make it five successive wins.
