THE TEAM NEWS

RICHMOND

  • Richmond made it back-to-back wins as they were able to grind out a victory in a low-scoring contest with Sydney Swans and they will be confident of making it three successive wins as they face North Melbourne.
  • A strong first quarter set the tone for the Tigers as they built a 21-9 lead and despite scoring just 13 further points in the final three quarters, it proved to be enough as they restricted the Swans to just 26 in total.
  • That effort obviously impressed the coaching staff as they have elected to retain the same line-up for this clash and they will hope to match last week’s defensive effort with another solid showing here.

NORTH MELBOURNE

  • North Melbourne lost for the fourth game in succession as they were defeated by Essendon last weekend and their poor start to the season could be about to get worse as they face reigning premiers Richmond.
  • The Kangaroos led by five points at the end of the first quarter but they were outscored in each of the final three quarters as they slipped to a 67-53 defeat.
  • Not only did they suffer defeat but they also have injury issues to deal with after losing Paul Ahern and Tarryn Thomas while Tom Campbell has been dropped with Aiden Bonar, Jack Ziebell and Mason Wood coming into the side.

THE PREDICTION

Richmond have still not performed as well as they can but they will not be concerned when they are collecting victories which is what they did last week. They made it back-to-back wins last week and now face a struggling North Melbourne outfit. The Kangaroos have lost four in a row and having failed to score no more than 60 points in any of those matches, the Tigers’ defence should be able to hold firm to make it three wins in a row.
