THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE

  • Melbourne made no mistake as they returned to winning ways with a big win over Adelaide Crows during the week and they will hope to build on that victory as they attempt to keep in touch with the top eight.
  • The Demons were dominant as they came out on top in each of the four quarters with their final quarter display ensuring they ran out by 51-point winners to move to 4-5.
  • They will come into this without the suspended Alex Neal-Bullen while Jack Viney is out with injury, Harley Bennell is dropped and Jay Lockhart and Max Gwan are managed so Charlie Spargo, Kysaiah Pickett, Tom McDonald, Mitch Hannan and Trent Rivers come into the side.

NORTH MELBOURNE

  • North Melbourne were unable to build on their huge win over Adelaide Crows as they suffered defeated against Geelong Cats in midweek but they will at least take some heart from their efforts in that game.
  • The Cats won all four quarters in what was a relatively straightforward success but the Kangaroos kept the margin of victory to 33 thanks to a solid effort in the second half.
  • Will Walker and Lachlan Hosie have been dropped on the back of that loss while Ben Brown is out through injury with Luke Davies-Uniacke, Nick Larkey and Sam Durdin all receiving call-ups.

THE PREDICTION

Melbourne and North Melbourne will take their derby to Adelaide owing to the current situation in Victoria. The Demons are not too far away from challenging for the top eight while the Kangaroos are only four points behind their rivals but have lost two more matches. The Kangaroos have won just one of their eight games and that form leaves a lot to be desired despite holding a brilliant record against the Demons with Melbourne able to come out on top here.
