THE TEAM NEWS
MELBOURNE
- Melbourne made it back-to-back wins thanks to a brilliant win over rivals North Melbourne as they improved to 5-5 and put themselves within touching distance of the top eight.
- The Demons struggled in the opening quarter but fought back superbly to lead at the half and sealed their win with a huge performance in the final quarter in which they came out on top 42-1.
- That resulted in a 92-35 success but they have still opted to change their line-up this week with Mitch Hannan and Trent Rivers dropped while Luke Jackson is out injured so Braydon Preuss, Jack Viney and Jay Lockhart come into the side.
COLLINGWOOD
- Collingwood were given a scare by winless Adelaide Crows last week as they had to respond to a half-time deficit before fighting back to produce a strong second half showing which earned them a second straight win.
- The Magpies were poor in the first half as they trailed 22-13 but they restricted the Crows to just 16 points in the second half as Collingwood scored 49 to come out 38-62 winners.
- A better performance is required here but they will be without the injured Brayden Sier and Jordan Roughead whilst Tim Broomhead, Jaidyn Stephenson and Chris Mayne have been dropped so Ben Reid, Darcy Moore, Jamie Elliott, Scott Pendlebury and Will Hoskin-Elliott come in.
THE PREDICTION
This is an important game for Melbourne and Collingwood with the pair chasing a spot in the finals. The 6-4-1 Magpies currently occupy a spot in top eight with the 5-5 Demons just on the outer but a loss for Melbourne could be critical to their hopes. The Magpies have failed to impress in their last few games and that could open the door for the Demons who can end a three-match losing streak against the Magpies by earning the victory here.
