THE TEAM NEWS

GWS GIANTS

  • GWS Giants had all off-season to dwell on their no-show in the AFL Grand Final last season but they put that behind them with a solid display in their Round 1 fixture against Geelong.
  • The Giants won all four quarters as they dominated the Cats, racking up 105 points in the process and they will be hope that the enforced break does not halt their momentum as they host North Melbourne.
  • There are three changes to the Giants side that won their opening match with Adam Kennedy out with injury while Tom Green and Zac Langdon are omitted with Callan Ward, Jye Caldwell and Zac Williams coming into the side.

NORTH MELBOURNE

  • North Melbourne ended last season with two wins to wrap the campaign up and started this year with a victory as they edged a thrilling contest with St. Kilda as they held on to win by two points.
  • The Kangaroos were not too far off from earning a spot in the finals last time around but need to find some more consistency and this game against last year’s beaten Grand Finalists will be a good test for them.
  • Nick Larkey is absent for this contest through injury while Paul Ahern and Tom Murphy are dropped with Bailey Scott, Kyron Hayden and Mason Wood the new faces in the line-up.

THE PREDICTION

GWS Giant got their season off to the perfect start as they proved too good for Geelong in their opening game and they will be hopeful of building on that as they host North Melbourne. The Giants were 7-4 at home last season while the Kangaroos were 4-7 and after such a strong showing in their Round 1 contest, the Giants can make it two wins from two by taking a first quarter lead and holding on to that until the final siren.
