THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST SUNS

  • Gold Coast Suns finally ended their long losing streak as they broke the sequence at 19 consecutive losses thanks to a superb display to comfortably defeat West Coast Eagles last week.
  • That boilover was a huge result for the Suns who will be massively relieved to no longer have that burden after restricting the Eagles to just 11 points in the second half of their 90-46 win.
  • Despite last week’s shock win, the Suns have opted to make two changes to their side for this clash with Adelaide Crows with David Swallow and Brandon Ellis called-up at the expense of Brayden Fiorini and Sean Lemmens.

ADELAIDE CROWS

  • Adelaide Crows suffered a humiliating loss in their Adelaide derby last week as they failed to respond to the narrow Round 1 defeat against Sydney Swans and they are already under big pressure even at this early stage of the season.
  • The Crows were hammered by the Power as they shipped 110 points, managing just 35 in response as they failed to score more than 13 points in any quarter of that one-sided affair.
  • None of last week’s underperformers have been omitted but there is one enforced change with Wayne Milera ruled out with injury and that opens the door for defender Will Hamill to make his debut.

THE PREDICTION

Gold Coast Suns put more than a year of hurt behind them as they earned their first AFL victory in 20 matches by shocking West Coast Eagles last week. They will now be desperate to build on that as they look to put a winning run together to really expel the terrible memories of the last year. They host Adelaide Crows who come into this on the back of a five-match losing streak that stretches back to last season and the Suns can take advantage to make it back-to-back wins.
