THE TEAM NEWS

FREMANTLE

  • Fremantle struggled for the second game in a row as they were restricted to just 16 points in a woeful attacking display in their defeat against Geelong Cats on Monday to leave them at just 2-6 for the season.
  • The Dockers managed just three points in the first half and it did not get much better in the second period and they have now posted just 48 points in their last two matches.
  • That effort has resulted in big changes with Brennan Cox, Nat Fyfe, Connor Blakely, Mitch Crowden and Travis Colyer coming in for the dropped Bailey Banfield and Blake Acres as well as injured trio Darcy Tucker, James Aish and Michael Walters.

COLLINGWOOD

  • Collingwood were on the end of a heavy loss last week as they were outclassed by West Coast Eagles and they will be desperate to bounce back here as they look to improve on their 4-3-1 record.
  • The Magpies led 12-26 after the first quarter but were then outscored 99-19 in the final three quarters in what was a huge turnaround in performance and the manner of that loss has led to a raft of changes.
  • Mark Keane will debut while Brayden Sier, Jack Magden, Steele Sidebottom and Travis Varcoe also come in with Callum L. Brown injured while Atu Bosenavulagi, Jordan Roughead, Matthew Scharenberg and Rupert Wills are all omitted.

THE PREDICTION

Fremantle and Collingwood both have a point to prove after poor losses last week. The Dockers posted just 16 points against Geelong Cats while the Magpies fell apart after a strong first quarter against West Coast Eagles. There is a lot to do for Fremantle to improve on that effort but their side looks much stronger this week, although that is unlikely to be enough to prevent Collingwood winning this one which would make it five wins from six against the Dockers.
