THE TEAM NEWS

COLLINGWOOD

  • Collingwood lost for the second game in succession with Fremantle able to get the better of them in their latest contest and the Magpies urgently need to find some form or they will face an uphill task to secure a spot in the top eight.
  • The Magpies kept the Dockers scoreless in the opening quarter but failed to capitalise on that strong defensive showing and despite leading at the start of the final quarter, they succumbed to a 61-49 loss.
  • There are four changes for the Magpies this week with Chris Mayne, Darcy Cameron, Mark Keane and Travis Varcoe all dropped with Ben Reid, Callum L. Brown and Jordan Roughead all coming in along with Trey Ruscoe who will debut.

SYDNEY SWANS

  • Sydney Swans were unable to build on their win over Hawthorn as they were on the end of a heavy loss against St. Kilda last week and they come into this contest with just one team below them on the ladder.
  • The Swans shipped 101 points as they were defeated by a margin of 53 and having lost five of their last six matches, it already looks set to be another season of disappointment for the Sydney side.
  • Lewis Taylor, Nick Blakey, Ryan Clarke and Sam Gray all make way for this contest with Sam Wicks coming in for his debut along with Dylan Stephens, Jackson Thurlow and Lewis Melican.

THE PREDICTION

Collingwood have been frustrating to watch this season with their lack of consistency preventing them from competing as high up the ladder as they will feel they should be. They come into this contest 4-4-1 after losing for the second game in a row last week and they will be desperate to end that run there as they face Sydney Swans. They will believe they can come out on top against the struggling Swans who have lost five of their last six and that is likely to be the case with the Magpies able to make it back-to-back wins over the Sydney outfit.
