THE TEAM NEWS

COLLINGWOOD

  • Collingwood suffered a second consecutive loss as they went down to Essendon last week which means the Magpies have got off to a far from ideal start to the season with just two wins from five matches.
  • The Magpies were made to pay for a lacklustre effort in the two middle quarters in which they were outscored 5-32 and it ultimately proved too difficult for them to come back from in the final quarter.
  • In their bid to end their losing run at two matches, the Magpies will hand debuts to Atu Bosenavulagi and Will Kelly while Isaac Quaynor is also handed a call-up with Jordan De Goey managed, Josh Daicos injured and Tyler Brown dropped.

HAWTHORN

  • Hawthorn failed to make it three wins in a row as they fell to defeat against GWS Giants last week and they will be eager to respond here as they face a tricky task against Collingwood.
  • The Hawks got off to a slow start and despite putting themselves back in contention at the end of the third quarter, they managed just one point in the final quarter their comeback fell well short.
  • On the back of that loss, the Hawks have made four changes to their line-up with Jack Scrimshaw and Mitch Lewis out with injury while Shaun Burgoyne is rested and Harry Jones is omitted with Harry Morrison, Josh Morris, Will Day and Jonathon Patton coming into the side.

THE PREDICTION

Collingwood would have hoped for a better start to the season but they could find themselves in some difficulty if they fail to win this contest with Hawthorn. The Magpies have won just two games so far and another defeat here against Hawthorn would be a big blow. The Hawks arrive on the back of a loss but the Magpies have lost their last two and with Hawthorn possessing a superb record against Collingwood having won 12 of their last 13 meetings, it is the Hawks that should be able to come out on top.
