THE TEAM NEWS

WEST COAST EAGLES

• West Coast Eagles were edged out in a brilliant game against Richmond Tigers last week which means that their place in the top 4 is not secure and they must win this game against Hawthorn Hawks to seal that spot.
• After four consecutive victories, the Eagles were downed by the Tigers with that defeat coming at the worst possible time with a home qualifying final now out of their hands too with other results needing to fall their way.
• The Eagles have made two changes to the side that were edged out last week with Josh Rotham dropped and Mark Hutchings out with a hamstring injury with Chris Masten and Liam Duggan named in their place.

HAWTHORN HAWKS

• Hawthorn Hawks made it back-to-back victories in the AFL as they produced a solid display to see off bottom of the ladder Gold Coast Suns but they will need a bit of luck if they are to appear in the finals.
• The Hawks occupy ninth place on the ladder heading into the final round of the season with Western Bulldogs four points ahead of them which means they must win this weekend and hope the Bulldogs slip-up against Adelaide Crows.
• Dan Howe returns to the line-up after he was managed last week and he is joined by Jack Scrimshaw who will play his first senior game since Round 10 with Changkuoth Jiath dropped whilst there is also no place for Jarryd Roughead who hung up his boots on the back of the Hawks’ final home game of the season.

THE PREDICTION

West Coast Eagles had aspirations of the minor premiership leading into last week’s game and whilst they can still finish top, they could also finish as low as fifth. They must beat Hawthorn Hawks in their final game of the regular season to ensure they seal a top 4 spot and hope other results go their way to at least finish with a home game in the qualifying finals. Hawthorn will prove tricky opponents as they need a win to give themselves a chance of finishing inside the top 8 but those hopes could be dashed by the home side.
