AC Milan Preview: Declining Rossoneri
In midweek, AC Milan shared a 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Internazionale in the Derby della Madonnina in the first-leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie in a game in which Tammy Abraham opened the scoring before Hakan Calhanoglu equalised about 20 minutes later.
The Rossoneri, who appointed former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao to replace Paulo Fonseca at the start of the year, have been underwhelming throughout the campaign and now sit outside of the top seven and the European spots in Serie A.
Fiorentina Preview: Frustrated Fiorentina
One of the teams competing with Milan for a place in the top seven is Fiorentina who, having been runners’ up in each of the last two UEFA Europa Conference League campaigns, are in the quarter-finals of that competition once again and look likely only for seventh once again.
I Viola had been very strong through the middle part of the season but have endured some poorer form in this calendar year. They do, though, come into this one on the back of back-to-back victories either side of the March international break against Juventus and Atalanta.
AC Milan Team News: A few absentees
AC Milan have a few issues for the visit of Fiorentina this weekend with Alex Jimenez unavailable due to suspension for this one, whilst Emerson Royal is also out injured due to a calf issue alongside the ill Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Gabbia, Thiaw, Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Pulisic, Joao Felix, Leao; Abraham
Unavailable: Emerson Royal (Injured), Alex Jimenez (Suspended), Loftus-Cheek (Illness)
Questionable:
Fiorentina Team News: A couple of issues
Former Internazionale wing-back Robin Gosens is a key injury doubt for this weekend’s trip to Milan due to a knee injury. They also have a couple of confirmed absentees such as Andrea Colpani and Edoardo Bove, who is missing after suffering a cardiac arrest in December.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): David de Gea; Pongracic, Pablo Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Mandragora, Cataldi, Fagioli, Parisi; Gudmundsson, Kean
Unavailable: Colpani (Injured), Bove (Illness)
Questionable: Gosens (Injured)
AC Milan vs Fiorentina Prediction
AC Milan have endured some really poor form in Serie A and their most recent outing in the league saw them suffer a 2-1 defeat to title challenging Napoli last weekend at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. They now face a Fiorentina side that have perhaps rediscovered some much-improved form as they prepare for a UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final clash against Slovenian side Celje. Siding with the visitors would appear a good value bet for this one at San Siro.
AC Milan vs Fiorentina Tip: Double chance – Fiorentina to win or draw
