THE PREDICTION
United States bounced back from defeat at the hands of Sweden with a thumping 1-6 thrashing of New Zealand and now face a showdown with Australia to determine which country will definitely qualify through to the knockout stage most like as Group G runners up. Australia were beaten 4-2 last time out by Sweden and although star striker Sam Kerr was on the scoresheet twice more, the Chelsea forward will need her teammates to step against a formidable opponent. Whilst Kerr is one of the best individual players to feature in the match, United States boasts a superior all-round team and this should lead to a second successive victory for them, with the Australian defence expected to struggle once again vs an extremely potent American frontline. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Aussies at least find the net when taking into account that United have conceded four goals over the course of their two group games played, so both teams to score also looks on the cards.
