THE PREDICTION

World number 28 Ugo Humbert was assured in a potentially tough first round match against in-form Pablo Andujar to reach the second round without dropping a set. The 23-year-old won his second ATP title just last month at the Halle Open on grass but he is just as effective on the hard courts, where he won his first title at last year’s European Open. World number 52 Miomir Kecmanovic overcame Kamil Majchrzak in relative comfort in the first round which will be thoroughly welcome after a difficult summer. The 21-year-old has lost seven of his last 10 matches on tour but there is plenty of potential in the youngster still to come.

Humbert and Kecmanovic have met a surprising amount of times considering their ages and the Serb leads their head-to-head 3-2 as things stand having won all three of their first encounters. Since last year the tables have turned slightly and Humbert was the winner late last month at the Mallorca Championships over three sets. The Frenchman has been in superb form this summer but Kecmanovic could just as easily gain revenge here. In a match that looks likely to see three sets, take Humbert to win at least one of them as the slight favourite.
