THE PREDICTION

This opening clash in Group A between Mexico and France looks set to be one of the more competition and entertaining games of the round. France are led by veteran striker André-Pierre Gignac who plies his trade in Mexico and they will look to him to provide the goals. His presence will be somewhat formidable for the Mexican defence as will the inclusion of Florian Thauvin as one of the other over-age players. There is quality in the French ranks but it is not as strong a squad as it could be. Mexico will be confident of doing well in this tournament in which they have a good record having won Gold in 2012. They have Guillermo Ochoa, Luis Romo and Henry Martin as their over-aged players and they are supported by the talented Diego Lainez and Roberto Alvarado. It is however the French who are favoured by many to get the win but rule out the Mexicans at your peril. There is every chance the Central American could pick up a point from this opener and at least consider them with the handicap +0.75.
