YULIA PUTINTSEVA VS JELENA OSTAPENKO PREDICTION

Yulia Putintseva was on cloud nine after stunning world number one Iga Swiatek in three sets on Saturday. After losing the first set 3-6, many expected Putintseva to crumble under the pressure. The 29-year-old bounced back in style playing some fearless tennis as she took the next two sets losing just three games in the process. That will give her confidence that she can beat anybody left in the draw now and it starts here against Jelena Ostapenko.

13th seed Jelena Ostapenko has cruised into the round of 16 after an impressive week that saw her win all three matches without dropping a set. The Latvian’s run has been strong, but she has yet to face anybody of any real quality so she will be put to the test here.

The pair have shared two wins each in their four previous meetings with Ostapenko winning the last meeting between the two at Indian Wells in 2021. She is marginally favoured to beat Putintseva here once again but this one is simply too unpredictable to call. Expect this to go three sets.

YULIA PUTINTSEVA VS JELENA OSTAPENKO TIP: OVER 3.5 SETS
