THE PREDICTION
World number 61 Yannick Hanfmann came back from a set down to beat eighth seed Alexander Shevchenko on Tuesday, delighting home crowds at the Munich Open. The 32-year-old is at his best on clay but he enjoyed a real purple patch on both this surface and grass last summer, although recent months on hardcourts have been something of a slog. World number 223 Marc-Andrea Huesler won his maiden ATP title at the Sofia Open in late 2022 but last season was one to forget for the Austrian, who initially impressed on clay that season. The 27-year-old edged through qualifying in three tight sets over Jan Choinski before a comeback over Marko Topo on Tuesday but those results suggest he will find Hanfmann too hot to handle, particularly with the crowd behind him. Back the home hopeful to win outright, with three sets slightly likelier than two.
TIP: YANNICK HANFMANN TO WIN
