Novak Djokovic returns to action with plenty of intrigue surrounding what kind of condition the Serb star will be in as he has not played at all since pulling out of the French Open due to injury. It is unlikely he would have even committed to playing here if he was not in good enough condition to participate but there are still concerns whether his body will stand up to the rigours of a Grand Slam.

He faces Czech 27-year-old Vit Kopriva who plays on the ATP Challenger Tour and that should provide Djokovic with a gentle enough opener for this 2024 championships. Djokovic may take some time to settle into this match so some early rust is fully expected. However, Djokovic will be keen to avoid being on court longer than necessary so expect him to do enough to win in straight sets and progress to the second round with minimal fuss.
