UGO HUMBERT VS NUNO BORGES PREDICTION
Ugo Humbert had a tough first-round match against compatriot Arthur Fils on paper but he made it look easy in a 6-2 6-2 win which saw him dominate in all areas of the match. That will fill him with plenty of confidence that he can go far this week in Montreal on the hard court. Humbert is enjoying one of his most consistent seasons and he will want to push through the rounds this week.
He faces Nuno Borges in the second round and they have met once before on the Challenger Tour two years ago which Humbert won in straight sets on a hard court. Borges is a much better player now than he was then and he is in some good form of his own. Borges scrapped his way to a three-set win over Miomir Kecmanovic in what was a real battle and coming through that one will give him plenty of belief.
Much will depend on whose service game settles quickest and is the more consistent over the course of this match. Both are strong servers and our marginal preference is for Humbert in that area with less errors and double faults likely. There is little to choose between them however and while we just edge Humbert, our preference here is over 21.5 games
