TOMMY PAUL VS OTTO VIRTANEN PREDICTION

Tommy Paul overcame Spaniard Pedro Martinez with relative ease in the first round on Monday but he still dropped a set and had a dip midway through the match which is something he may be punished for if he does that against Otto Virtanen here.

Paul’s all-round game was solid against Martinez but he will have been frustrated to have dropped the set against somebody he was so comfortable against in the opening two sets. His return game was in fine form and it will have to be here against the strong service game that Virtanen possesses.

Qualifier Otto Virtanen played exceptionally well against Max Purcell in the first round losing just seven games in a straight-sets win. He blasted 19 aces and completely dominated throughout. Paul represents a major step up in quality here however and with the American’s return game being particularly strong, it is hard to make a case for Virtanen making inroads in this match.

Expect Paul to get the win although it would be no surprise to see him drop a set once again.
