SEBASTIAN BAEZ VS ROBERTO CARBALLES BAENA PREDICTION
World number 20 Sebastian Baez won back-to-back titles on his favoured clay at the Rio Open and Chile Open back in February, repeating his excellent back-to-back feat last summer in Winston-Salem and Kitzbuhel, the latter of which he beat Roberto Carballes Baena comfortably en-route.
The 23-year-old improved on a recent depressurisation of his fierce game to stun Holger Rune in Rome two weeks ago but a tight three-set defeat to Hubert Hurkacz will have been hard to take. A straight-sets opener over Sumit Nagal on Sunday is a solid foothold here in Geneva but this should be a tougher test against RCB, who grabbed an excellent win over Daniel Altmaier.
World number 62 Carballes Baena finished runner-up to Matteo Berrettini at the Marrakech Open last month, just missing out on defending his title there from the year before, but he has performed reasonably well since with good clay results over Lorenzo Musetti and Dominik Koepfer.
Baez should once again have too much for the Spaniard, now that he looks to have recovered from his drab spell, but taking the Argentine outright is the sensible concession.
