Whilst Lorenzo Musetti is playing very impressive tennis and enjoying a strong spell of form, the US Open represents a change of surface, with the Italian’s recent success having come on clay. The 22-year-old faces a player who boasts a good record against him, with Reilly Opelka having beaten Musetti in each of their three previous clashes, one of which was at the US Open in 2021.
Musetti is a far better player than he was the last time he took on Opelka at Indian Wells back in 2022, but the man from the USA is a good hard court player and has the mental advantage of knowing how to get the better of his opponent in past fixtures.
