QUENTIN HALYS VS GAEL MONFILS PREDICTION

Quentin Halys has come through two rounds of qualifying to reach this stage and he will be hoping he can produce some more good displays to follow those up. He beat fellow Frenchman Corentin Moutet in three sets and then overcame Jaume Munar in straight sets.

He played in Stockholm last week and was eliminated by Grigor Dimitrov but prior to that he played Challenger events in France for several weeks after the US Open.

Gael Monfils has enjoyed some excellent results in recent weeks and is seemingly particularly motivated when he comes up against younger compatriots. He won through three rounds in Shanghai two weeks ago with one of his wins coming against Ugo Humbert. It was Carlos Alcaraz who knocked him out of that one.

The veteran will delight in inflicting another loss on one of the numerous talents from his homeland. Monfils has shown frequently of late how he can still rise to the challenge while also managing his body. It would be no surprise if Monfils pulled off another win here and eliminated Halys.
