PAULA BADOSA VS EMMA NAVARRO PREDICTION
Paula Badosa and Emma Navarro meet on Tuesday in the first women’s quarter-final and it promises to be a highly entertaining and quality encounter.
The duo have been two of the form players on the WTA Tour in recent months and they are sure to serve up what should be a cracking match.
It is Emma Navarro who has had the toughest route to this stage as she had to overcome defending champion Coco Gauff in the round of 16. That was the second seed has beaten in this year’s event after she also beat Marta Kostyuk in the third round.
Badosa has been pushed and her third round match with Elena-Gabriela Ruse was her hardest match of the tournament so far. However, she has yet to play a seeded player and this will unquestionably be her hardest match to date.
Prior to this tournament, it was Badosa who had the edge in form on the hard courts. Navarro was outstanding at Wimbledon but her form of late has not been that good unlike Badosa’s. That said, she is shaping up nicely in New York and looking strong as she showed in the elimination of Gauff.
Our marginal preference on this surface is Badosa but only just. Navarro is playing really well and this is a match that could easily go either way. We would lean towards Badosa but our play is over 2.5 sets in this one.
